A scientometric study of NSIT publications in science and technology during 2006 to 2015

Abstract

This paper analyses the research output in science & technology (S&T) in nine departments of Netaji Subhas Institute of Technology (NSIT), New Delhi during the year 2006 to 2015 using Scopus database. The authors of nine departments produced 1184 publications as articles, conference papers and reviews. The present study examines on formats of research outputs, growth pattern of output, author productivity, productivity per capita, transformative activity index, common journals used for publishing research results and identifies prolific authors. The average publication growth of NSIT is 10.9%. The maximum number of publications during study period is in the year 2015. Productivity per capita of the Institute is about 12.3 publications, the average productivity per author is 0.34 publications. Research output by single author has decreased in second block of 2011 to 2015. The transformative activity index of Biological Science and Engineering (BT) department and that of Instrumentation and Control Engineering (ICE) department have improved in second block of 2011–2015. Journals published from the United States of America were most preferred for publishing research result by NSIT authors.
