Abstract
The potentials of research data, its curation and reuse are immense. Academic, research and development institutions and funding agencies recognizing its possibilities have intensified its efforts in the development of data repositories. Research data is abounded everywhere. Huge amounts of funds have been invested for research, and to have a holistic utilization of the amount spend, proper guidelines on how the research data should be stored for future use and a repository is necessitated. This paper discusses academics perception towards data repositories and the role of libraries in providing research data based services. Questionnaire method was adopted for the study. Study found that all the respondents are in favour of preserving data, and majority of them suggested that libraries can lead the development of data repositories.
