Abstract The study examines what constitutes effective personnel management and the level of effectiveness of personnel management in academic libraries of two Nigerian Universities. A total of one hundred and thirty (130) staff were used. Questionnaire was the main research instrument for the collection of data. The data were subjected to both descriptive and chi-square analysis. The findings revealed that possession of certificate in Library studies is crucial to effective personnel management. The result also showed that personnel management is effective in Nigeria academic Libraries.
