Assessment of Emotional Intelligence of Librarians Working in Mumbai Region

Abstract
Advancement of ICT has brought about sea change in the role of libraries and librarians. These constant changes in the environment of the library can affect the emotions of the people working in the library. Emotional Intelligence is a skill which helps in managing one's emotions. The present study was carried out with the aim of assessing the Emotional Intelligence of Librarians working in Mumbai region. A convenience sample of 41 librarians working in the Mumbai region were selected. A likert scale was developed which included 36 items which tested the different dimensions of Emotional Intelligence. It was found that the emotional intelligence of the respondent librarians were high. Findings of study and recommendation to enhance the emotional intelligence of librarians are discussed.
