Abstract

The electronic media of storage of information has revolutionized the role of libraries that was once the storehouse of knowledge in society. CD-ROMs besides having the ability to store large volumes of data and providing rapid responses to searches are helping the libraries in relieving from the problems of storage space. It is also noted that with the development of efficient archiving software, the libraries of future will store most of the information on CD-ROMs.
