Exploring Factors for the Adherence of Library Rules and Regulations at Central University of South Bihar

Abstract
The paper deals with an explorative study of the factors responsible for the adherence of library rules and regulations at Central University of South Bihar. For the study questionnaire based survey method was used that was structured using the 4 point likert scale. From an exhaustive literature review six criteria: user education, information resource availability, attitude of the library staffs, library working hours and disciplinary as well as security measures were taken for the study. Average mean of 2.50 was used as a cut-off point for the study. Out of the six factors under study: user education, information resource availability, attitude of the library staffs, library working hours, disciplinary as well as security measures five factors are strong determinant for the adherence to library rules and regulations. Over a period of time impact of library rules and regulations over the users have remained a neglected topic. The present study is an attempt to fill the void and find out the factors that are responsible for the adherence of library rules and regulations in a university library. Based on the findings suggestions have been proposed which could be taken into concern for strong adherence among students of the library rules and regulations.
