Information Use Pattern by Arts and Science Teachers of Sahyadri Science and Arts College

Abstract This article reports the results of a comparative study of information seeking behaviour of faculty members of Sahyadri Science and Arts College in Shivamogga district of Karnataka, India. Data were collected by using a questionnaire from 90 faculties of the college. The comparison shows that more number of science faculty visit the library to preparing themselves for classroom teaching and consulting periodicals than of arts faculty. Books are the most used library material by both categories of faculty. Most of the science and arts faculty are satisfied with the Internet facility available in the library. Cybercafés are satisfying the faculty members in gathering electronic information. The library is mostly utilized for the purpose of preparation for teaching and research work
