Abstract Describes internship, its objective need and advantages. Advocates harnessing this resource area for the benefit of withering library profession. Stresses the need for standard curriculum content and definite period of training, provision for remuneration or stipend and award of certificate. Internship programme may lead to better availability of well equipped and trained library professionals and will increase the output of institution, with marginal expenditure. Describes the current scenario in the field, includes case study of Vivekananda College. (D.U.)
