Leishmaniasis: Scientometric assessment of global research output

Abstract
This paper investigates global leishmaniasis research output for the period 1997–2016 indexed by Science Citation Index-Expanded. Analysis indicates exponential growth in second ten year block. Study includes 14779 (article, article proceedings, letter, and review), out of 16198 records retrieved on various aspects of Leishmaniasis. The highest publications came from Brazil followed by USA and India. The publication activity increased for France, UK and USA and decreased for Iran, Belgium and Brazil. The average value of CPP is 23. RCI and CPP is more than world average for USA, UK, France, Germany, Switzerland, Canada and Netherlands. Fundacao Oswaldo Cruz, Brazil was the most prolific institution, Paracitology was found to be the most focussed sub-discipline and American Journal of Tropical Medicine and Hygiene, USA was the most prefered journal and Sundar Shyam, of BHU was the most prolific author. Brazil with USA shows strongest mutual strength and highest publications in collaboration with each other.
