Abstract Reading habit among teacher trainees is very essential as it not only improves their own knowledge base but also indirectly influences the students whom they are about to teach. Poor reading habit leads to low quality of education in students. A survey was conducted among 191 B. Ed students under nine optional subjects. The findings prove that B. Ed students like reading and majority of them spend 1–2 hour daily for reading. But the influence of electronic medias like TV, Computer, Internet etc have reduced the time they spend for reading.
