Broadly discusses its foundations and domains of study and research. Emphasises the fact that Information Science has been accepted internationally as a discipline in its own right. Dwells on the interdisciplinary nature of Information Science. Discusses the shifting balance of intellectual trade in Information studies. Points out that the discipline of Information Science has always been mindful of and receptive to sociological thinking. Identifies the historical moment at which the field became sociologically enlightened or shifted the gears paradigmatically. From the bits and pieces of information located from the literature, endeavours to establish the sociological concerns of Information Science. Pleads for further research to establish firm relationship between Sociology and Information Science.
