Abstract

The present study is an attempt to assess and map the ILC level of social science researchers in the select central universities using ACRL's Standards. In keeping with the objectives of study, the purpose of ILC mapping is to identify and establish the ILC levels of researchers within and across different subjects. This is supposed to be of great help to all the stakeholders to plan, organize and participate in various IL activities and ultimately enhance the IL competency of researchers. The findings indicate that the highest IL competent researchers were found on Standard V having competency in information use ethics. The maximum of researchers from all the subjects have shown IL incompetency on Standard II and were found lacking skills and competency to access and browse the required information.
